Artist's Comments
My final project for Intermediate Drawing! The assignment was to draw seven hands arranged in a pleasing composition, with at least one of the hands being skeletal. I chose for my medium black and white charcoal pencil. The paper is cream Reeves BFK.
As I drew concept sketches, I decided I wanted depict the hands worshiping God. The skeletal hand represents death in sin, while the hand in the upper-right hand corner represents God. The others gradually rise up, and though one is repulsed from God and shrinks away, another thrusts forward towards God, representing the transformation through Christ's love. The six hands were carefully modeled after my own. |
