Black and white charcoal pencil on Steel grey Canson Ingres. 19"x25"

I did my first charcoal portrait of Cash as a junior at Lincoln Christian: [link] It was the best piece I did in high school; two years later, I've decided to do a new version, using a different reference photo. Both were free-handed; no graphs or projectors.

I plan on doing a portrait of my Dad in this style, so I partially did this to get an idea of how that next portrait will look on this color paper. I love the color and texture, but I'm buying better quality paper for the next one.
