'Real Hope' Violet

I experimented with purple in this design. My dad, who went to Catholic school as a child, told me that purple is the color of Christ's crucifixion, while green is the color of his resurrection. Hence, purple, green, and pink are the colors of Easter. I didn't want to include green, but purple fit well with the mood and the subject matter. This one is also entered in the Wacom "Good vs. Evil" competition.

Based on El Greco's "Christ Carrying the Cross."

How does this compare with the original? I'd appreciate critiques or suggestions.
